A Novel Sonar Ranging Method Using Discrete Tent - map Chaotic Phase Modulated Signal ⋆

چکیده

This paper proposes a novel ultrasonic ranging method using discrete chaotic phase modulated (CPM) signal. As the driving signal of the ultrasonic transducer, the CPM signal shows the property of sharp autocorrelation and flat cross-correlation, even when its length is kept short, which is very important to improving efficiency. The proposed method can provide high-precision measurement and is anticrosstalk. Simulations proved that the proposed modulation scheme preserves the chaotic characteristics of the tent map, including the correlation property, which is the fundamental of correlation ranging method. Different CPM signal with various parameters are simulated and analyzed in order to find the suitable solution. To testify the performance, the ranging method was simulated in a complete application environment with multipath, attenuation, interferences and noise. Results showed that it is highly reliable with ranging error in the scale of 10−5m provided a simulation environment with SNR set to 20dB.
